The India Dhamma Trust is a Triratna Buddhist Community charity established specifically to support our Dhamma work in India.  We’re doing this by raising money from the world-wide Sangha.  We’re hoping you’ll support us in this vital work!

Phase 1 of the project, which is ambitious but achievable, is to raise up to £80,000/year; this will be used to support those working for the men's and women's Ordination Processes and Public preceptors: around 20 of the core Dhamma workers in India plus their associated expenses.

What We're Doing

Here’s a few details of what we’re aiming to fund:

The Triratna Indian Women's Ordination team

The Women's Ordination Team is responsible for training Women for Ordination in India. In the Triratna Indian sangha there are approximately 750 women who have asked for Ordination, they are spread all across the sub-continent, whilst being concentrated in Maharastra.  The Women's Ordination Team also provide an important source of leadership within the Order for further training of Order Members, leading festivals and retreats, Kalyana Mitrata and conflict resolution, and out-reach Dhamma work. 

Expenses include support for  four women Order Members (though they would like to expand this), office and accommodation expenses, also travel : because of the inability of women to travel long distances to go on retreat there is a greater need for team members to travel to various states.

The India Dhamma Trust is committed to meeting the needs of the Women's Ordination Team as it expands.

The Men's Ordination Team 

The Men's Ordination Team is responsible for training men for Ordination (approximately 1000 men from all over India have requested ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order.)

In addition to this they too provide an important source of leadership within the Order and Movement, further training of Order Members, leading festivals and retreats, Kalyana Mitrata and conflict resolution and a lot of out-reach Dhamma work.

The Indian Public Preceptors

The team of Public Preceptors who are responsible for Ordinations in India.  They, along with other senior Order members, provide vital guidance and leadership for the whole movement in India.

The team is Chandrashila (an Indian Order member) and  Subhuti, Suvajra, Srimala, and Karunamaya, all Western Order Members who have been working in India for many years.
